Installation

The extent of the site preparation depends on the current state of the ground surface: whether it’s a new home, an established home or a building site.

If it’s already covered with lawn, we use a turf cutter or bobcat to remove the grass before compacting the ground.

Then we apply a 50mm layer of crushed aggregate or ‘crusher dust’. This layer allows water to drain through it, which reduces the pooling of water on the grass surface.

The synthetic grass is then cut and placed in a similar process to carpet laying.

Once the synthetic grass is laid, a 5mm layer of silica sand is brushed into the ‘nap’ or base. This layer of silica sand provides extra stability and bounce to the grass, and also serves to insulate against heat.

Due to the weight of the silica sand and the grass itself, there is no need to peg or nail the lawn to the ground in order to secure its position.
